It’s almost 4 weeks into your New Year.
How is your progress towards your goals, desires and intentions?
Are you moving closer to or farther away from them? How are you doing with your acknowledgment logs? Are you using any of the other tools. How are they working for you?

When people are excited about their new goals their energy level rises and they become extremely motivated.

When you commit to these goals, you gain focus, new ideas come to you more easily and you can't keep your mind off of your goals and intentions.

Then what happens?

Some people
seem to attract success, power, wealth, accomplishments with what appears to be very little effort; others conquer their life with great difficulty; still others fail altogether to reach their ambitions, desires and ideals. Why is that?

Many people read books, take courses, attend lectures all their lives without ever making progress in attaining what they say they want and desire in life. Why is that?

Some of it can be identified in how you are motivated, and other answers are found in what stops you.

The International Journal of Psy
cho-Analysis reports that people are either motivated by pain or pleasure.

In other words, either you are more determined to move away from your pain, or you are motivated to move toward pleasure. When you understand your personal motivation, you can work with it.

"The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you.
If you do that, you're in control of your life.
If you don't, life controls you."
~ Anthony Robbins

Think about this for yourself. What really motivates you?

Do you have to get really unhappy with the way your life is in order for you to make changes?
Do you have to be really angry at someone before you tell them how you feel?

Do you have to have serious bodily pain before you go to the doctor or massage therapist? This is motivation by pain.

Do you go to the dentist on schedule and practice preventive maintenance on your teeth?
Do you take your car in for service according to factory recommendations to keep it humming smoothly?
Do you browse the catalogs for thing you might like to have
? This is motivation by pleasure.

Click here for PAIN vs PLEASURE chart showing a comparison of pleasure vs pain motivators.

Many people possess more discipline and commitment ability than they give themselves credit for. (More....)

Having the right goals makes a difference.

Once you have identified your primary motivator, you can continue with your same behaviors or take mindful control to make changes.

IF money was not a consideration because all your financial needs were met,

and there were no time or space limitations,

and you didn't need to ask permission from anyone,
and no one would stop you,

then......

what would you being doing as a career?

what would you be doing for yourself?

what would you be doing for others?

Remember to ask yourself "Is that the Truth?"

Are you doing any of this now?
What can you do to add even the smallest part of this to your life today?

Pleasure is usually an easy motivator to identify. Some of the pain motivators may be more elusive.

Get ready for your best year ever

Wow, 2008 went fast didn't it?
How did you do?

Each year millions of people have a reaction to the transition of one year to the next. Some people are happy with their results. Others want something to change. Some people exceeded their goals and are excited for their next results. Others are struggling to make ends meet, find love, drop those extra pounds. Some will be glad the year is over. Some will end the year with regrets.

What does 2009 hold for you? Will it be more of the same or are you looking for a change? Even those who are happy with their results in 2008, many would still like something new or a change in something in the coming year.New Years Eve is the re-start of many old habits. Millions of people will voice new years resolutions in one night, and within the week over 75% will have broken them. Some people know they will never meet their resolutions but a small flicker of wishing and hoping that this year will be different motivates them to say them anyway.

Get Ready Tip #1:
Don't make New Years resolutions this year. Make your acknowledgement list instead.

Studies show that for a sales person, the best time to make a sale is right after you made one. The best time to create another success in your life, is right after you have just experienced one.

Why is that? It is because your energy is now focused on success, feeling good about what you just accomplished and you are feeling a
"success high". So then it would make sense that the most difficult time to set new goals or resolutions is when you are not feeling confident, not feeling proud of your accomplishments or not feeling successful. Yet this lack of success is what most people are feeling when they set New Year resolutions. This seems to be one answer to the question as to why over 75% of people give up on their new resolutions after only a couple of weeks. Start your New Year with a "success high" and propel your self towards greater success in 2009.

Start by NOT making New Years resolutions this year and making an acknowledgement list instead.

the more accomplishments you will recognize."
